What/Who is God?
The universe.
What happens when you die?
You stay part of the universe, part of the mystery. I suspect we kind of go back into the ether, and diffuse into the one energy.
What would you do with your last 24 hours?
I would spend it at the beach, all day, with friends and family – a braai with beer, surfing, a sundowner jam session, where everyone gets to play an instrument. I would then sleep under the stars and slip away quietly.
Describe your life in one word?
Musical.
Describe yourself in four words?
Surfer, musician, partner and father.
How do you think others describe you?
Silly, laid back, cool and humble.
What are you afraid of?
Fucking out totally in my head and in my life. I see it a lot in the music industry.
What moves you emotionally?
Beauty, spirit, natural forces and fragility.
Any regrets?
Not being more in the moment. I think too much about the future when I should be enjoying the now.
When did you know you wanted to be a musician?
When I watched “Back to the Future” at 11 years old. Chuck Berry blew me away with his solo.
What is the one great lesson you have learnt in your life?
Do not judge. And I am still learning it. When I was at school, I was judged negatively by certain teachers and I know what it is like to be on the receiving end of that.
If you could rid the world of one thing, what would it be?
Intolerance.
What does money mean to you?
The feel- good factor in life.
Name a skill you would love but you don’t have?
Kung Fu.
Define success?
Where what I do, hits the mark and I have excess energy and capacity to benefit and share.
What would you do with a spare fifteen minutes?
I would check out the classifieds for old musical instruments.
What inspires you to write music?
When I am moved by a simple observation, a momentary interaction, or a feeling of reflection. I write about 10 – 15 songs a year.
If you could ask God one question, what would it be?
Who is your Daddy!
